Head of Engineering

Overview

Our client is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the development of a cutting-edge financial platform aimed at revolutionizing the rental market. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic vision to build and scale an engineering team while driving the creation of secure, efficient, and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep background in software development, experience with financial platforms, and the ability to inspire a team of engineers.

Challenges you would face

• Build, lead, and manage an engineering team of 3-4 backend developers, fostering collaboration and technical excellence
• Design and develop a secure wallet system for user transactions, integrating banking APIs like Swan
• Implement and optimize key integrations using open-source resources and technical documentation
• Lead frontend development in Angular and backend development in Java or Python to ensure a scalable infrastructure
• Create a strong architecture while guiding the team toward successful project completion

The ideal candidate

• 8+ years of experience in software development with a proven track record of building financial or banking platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Angular (or React) for frontend and expertise in Java and Python for backend
• Experience working with banking API integrations and open-source technologies
• Strategic vision for designing scalable architectures and leading technical teams
• Fluent in both Spanish and English
• Based in Spain with availability for in-person collaboration at the Madrid office
